. . . whole foods and giving myself the gift of health is what is most important. There were days when I would want to give up on myself and say the “F-its”, but she was always so encouraging and whether I ate a burger or lean meat she told me to be ok with my choices. For so long, I beat myself up surrounding food and body image, but Melissa helped me to believe that no matter what size I am and food I eat to appreciate myself , and the work I’m putting into myself. Megan's Story

I have lived in Ohio my entire life. I hardly ever worked out and did not have the best eating habits. I loved my favorite meals of French fries, chicken wings, pizza and pasta. My knees were very arthritic so I was in pain when I did exercise. We moved to California 3 years ago.  My husband started working with Melissa because he knew he had to change his diet and poor eating habits. The right kind of healthy foods and proportions along with exercise helped fuel his body and gave him more energy and stamina. I knew I had to make changes in my lifestyle. . . . of biking 10-15 miles a day and not feel tired and less pain and stress in my knees. My husband and I have both lost over 30 pounds each and feel better both mentally and physically. I wanted to lose 10 pounds and thought I was already eating a healthy diet.  I love salads, fish, chicken and turkey and limited amounts of carbohydrates.  So, I didn’t think there was much for me to change.

Initially, Melissa spent two hours talking with me over the phone to learn about the foods I was eating and she came up with a list of things that I could change too be eating healthier with low fat, high protein foods.  Most importantly, Melissa taught me how to read labels on the foods I was choosing. Although this sounds like a simple step, it remarkably changed how I was eating.  For example, I was making salads which were simple and healthy and then adding salad dressing which had 10 or more grams of fat per serving. Instead of bread for sandwiches I was using wraps that we’re also higher in carbohydrate and fat though assumed they were good for me.

Soon my whole family was eating this new way and feeling more energy and healthier.  It’s also easy to continue eating like this even when out at a restaurant. Our grocery shopping bill reduced by a significant amount because we were no longer buying unhealthy dressings and sauces that we had previously been using when cooking.

Melissa provided me with some of her recipes and this opened up a whole new avenue of cooking by utilizing spices rather than store bought flavored sauces. Buying salt free or low salt canned goods and using spices and salt alternatives is a healthier and flavorful option.

It’s been almost 9 months since we’ve started ‘Stripped’ and my husband and I are both wearing smaller sizes.  We both have improved energy and frankly lack a craving for the high fat foods of our past.  Melissa has been a wonderful coach, she’s our biggest fan, maintains contact, checks on how we feel and is always coming up with new ideas for healthy living!
She has completely changed our world!
